About

Emily Kelly

I’m 24 years old, and an illustration artist born and raised in Metro Detroit, Michigan. I specialize in a range of mediums such as acrylic paint, oil pastel, graphite pencil, airbrush, and gouache. The composition of my surrealist works tend to convey the experience of being a woman in a midwestern suburban town during the technological age and its existential themes.

As a child I had gotten a lot of encouragement from my elementary school featuring my art in the local library exhibitions. A kid usually continues with the space they are clapped on for the most. With that, I really found my love for illustration and visual artistry at around the time of middle school. As someone who has grown up with the innovations of technology and the internet, I had an early exposure to social media. I was a part of online communities, especially ones that loved certain performing artists just as much as me. I started making my own fan art, and it quickly became my favorite time passer when I would come home from school. I started to take my passion more seriously in high school painting and drawing classes. I was a member of the National Art Honors Society (NAHS), and continued to have my pieces featured in the local library.

Now, I am enjoying the creative freedom that secondary school provides. I do commissions, and collaborate with anyone who is attracted to my motifs. Welcome to my portfolio!
